Rand Paul goes on offense over 'big, beautiful bill' criticisms
"I want to see the tax cuts made permanent, but I also want to see the $5 trillion in new debt removed from the bill," he said in a separate post.
Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., on Tuesday reiterated his opposition to the "big, beautiful bill" and its increase to the debt ceiling after the President Donald Trump publicly excoriated him over his opposition to the "big beautiful bill."
Paul, during an appearance on Fox Business, reiterated his opposition to the bill over its raising of the debt ceiling by $5 trillion, saying "Kentuckians sent me here to fight reckless debt. I will not support a $5T increase to our deficit." Paul himself did not direct address Trump in that segment.
"I want to see the tax cuts made permanent, but I also want to see the $5 trillion in new debt removed from the bill," he said in a separate post. "At least 4 of us in the Senate feel this way."
Paul's comments came after Trump personally lambasted the Kentucky lawmaker, saying "Rand votes NO on everything, but never has any practical or constructive ideas. His ideas are actually crazy (losers!). The people of Kentucky can’t stand him."
