Schumer files amendment to force release of Epstein files
Even should Schumer's amendment secure Senate support, it is unlikely to clear the House or survive a presidential veto.
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer on Wednesday announced that he had filed an amendment to force the release of government files related to Jeffrey Epstein's sex trafficking operation.
"I just filed an amendment on the Senate Floor to REQUIRE the Attorney General to release the Epstein files," he said. "Republicans will HAVE TO vote on it. We’re going to keep fighting until these files are released."
Democrats have attempted to capitalize on voter frustration with the Trump administration's widely panned handling of the case, though they have thus far failed to gain momentum on the issue.
Even should Schumer's amendment secure Senate support, it is unlikely to clear the House or survive a presidential veto.
