A passenger flight bound for Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) on Wednesday morning was forced to return to its base in Honolulu, Hawaii, for what the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said was a "security issue."

Details about the security issue have not been released so far, but the incident has been resolved and all 339 passengers on board the United Airlines flight were rebooked on a separate flight, according to NBC Los Angeles.

"United flight 1169 from Honolulu to Los Angeles returned safely to Honolulu after a potential security concern was found written on a lavatory mirror," United said. "Law enforcement met the aircraft, and a security sweep was conducted."

The flight returned at approximately 1:35 a.m. local time. It is not clear if anyone has been arrested for the incident.

Wednesday's incident occurred the day after a different passenger was arrested on a Hawaii Airlines flight for an alleged bomb scare. The flight was expected to depart San Diego, California, to fly to Honolulu. However, authorities found “nothing suspicious" on the plane.
