U.S. Army will change trans soldiers' files to reflect sex: Report

The U.S. Army will reportedly change the personnel files of servicemembers to reflect their natural sex, following a move by the Pentagon to ban transgender persons from military service.

A 14-page memo obtained by Reuters, stated that "[c]ommanders will take immediate measures to update personnel records and administrative systems to reflect biological sex for all individuals."

Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth set a June 6 deadline for active-duty transgender troops to self-identify and move for a voluntary separation from the military, while reservists have until June 7.

The trans service ban has led to a litany of legal challenges, though the Supreme Court, earlier this month, permitted the administration to enforce the ban.

President Donald Trump, in January, signed an executive order stating that "expressing a false 'gender identity' divergent from an individual’s sex cannot satisfy the rigorous standards necessary for military service."
