Bret Manley urges Trump to follow up Ukraine minerals deal with Defense Production Act

Bret Manley, executive director of the Energy Fair Trade Coalition, advises President Donald Trump to follow up the minerals deal with Ukraine by invoking the Defense Production Act as a way to cut through red tape and expedite refinery construction. “If we can speed up the cost of permitting, if we can speed up the production of these refining capacities and we can use A.I., we can replace the foreign refining capacity that we’re reliant on right now,” he explains. “But without that, we’re going to be beholden to foreign countries for quite some time.”
