President Trump said Tuesday in Japan that F-35 fighter jet missiles from the U.S. "will arrive this week," suggesting the delivery is moving ahead of schedule.

Trump made the comment during his hour-long remarks to sailors while aboard the USS George Washington at Japan’s Yokosuka Naval Base with Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, Fox News reported. While in Japan during his Asia trip, Trump also signed a new U.S.-Japan framework agreement on rare earth minerals.

The U.S. has approved several large arms sales to Japan, including advanced AIM-120 AMRAAM and AIM-9X air-to-air missiles designed for F-35s.

Trump said regarding the U.S.'s alliance with Japan that it is "one of the most remarkable relationships in the entire world." He also touted Japan’s and the U.S.'s stock markets reaching record highs, callng it a sign that "we’re doing something right."

Takaichi said while sharing the stage with Trump that Japan was "committed to fundamentally reinforcing its defense capability" and "ready to contribute even more proactively to peace and stability in the region."
