Bank flagged Hunter Biden payments to Eastern European escort ring: report
Hunter complained in February 2019 that his bank account was frozen for trying to make payments to an escort
Hunter Biden’s payments to a Ukrainian woman linked to an Eastern European escort ring were flagged by JPMorgan Chase in late 2018 and early 2019 in a report filed with the federal government, according to a new report.
Hunter spent over $30,000 on escorts, many of them linked to “.ru” Russian email addresses, who worked with a “model agency” called UberGFE between November 2018 and March 2019, the Washington Examiner previously reported. Biden claimed to members of his family that he was broke during that time, but he was able to make payments to the escorts thanks in part to President Joe Biden committing to wiring him a total of $100,000 to help pay his bills from December 2018 through January 2019.
The release of the suspicious activity report, or SAR, comes after top Republican senators demanded that the Department of Justice in a letter Thursday investigate Joe Biden’s apparently unwitting financing of his son’s participation in the Eastern European escort ring.
Hunter Biden’s payments to an UberGFE escort named Anna Dekhtiar, a Ukrainian citizen, between November 2018 and March 2019 were flagged in the JPMorgan Chase SAR published by the Daily Mail.
Dekhtiar received a combined $274,873 between November 2018 and March 2019 from eight bank accounts, one of which was linked to Hunter Biden’s company Owasco PC, for “no clear, legitimate economic purpose,” according to the SAR.
“Furthermore, there were instances where cash deposits appear structured in attempts to avoid [currency transaction report] filing since they are large round dollar cash transactions conducted on same, consecutive, or near consecutive days in aggregate amounts exceeding the CTR threshold,” the SAR stated.
Emails from Hunter Biden’s abandoned laptop show that he added Dekhtiar as an authorized recipient to receive wires from his Wells Fargo bank account on Dec. 8, 2019. That same evening, he sent three payments to Dekhtiar ranging from $300 to $600.
The Daily Mail obtained the SAR from the Marco Polo nonprofit research group, which the outlet said had obtained the document from a leak.
Dekhtiar forwarded a portion of the funds to another Ukrainian citizen named Ekaterina Moreva, the person who sold Hunter Biden time with UberGFE escorts, according to the SAR.
Hunter complained to Moreva in February 2019 that his bank account was frozen for trying to make payments to one of her escorts tied to a Russian bank account, according to text messages previously reported by the Washington Examiner.
Also identified in the SAR was an UberGFE escort whom Hunter Biden filmed himself accosting at a Boston cabin on Jan. 18, 2019.
Hunter Biden asked the escort in the 83-second video if he had ever hurt her and said he was “sorry that it took so long to give you $10,000.”
Moreva had directed Hunter Biden to make his payments for the escort to a bank account linked to a Russian email address, text messages show.
Joe Biden had wired his son $5,000 through CashApp less than three hours before Hunter Biden filmed the video, the Washington Examiner previously reported.
The New York Post on Sunday reported a second SAR filed by JPMorgan Chase that flagged payments Hunter Biden made from his company Owasco PC to individuals with ties to the “adult entertainment industry and potential association with prostitution [or who] were listed in prior SAR filings related to human trafficking,” according to a report Sunday by the New York Post.
Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) and Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) demanded the Justice Department investigate Joe Biden’s apparently unwitting financing of his son’s participation in the UberGFE escort ring in a letter Thursday.
The two Republican senators said in a 2020 report that Hunter Biden had “sent thousands of dollars” to people either involved in “transactions consistent with possible human trafficking” or “potential association with prostitution.” Some of the women “subsequently wired funds they have received from Hunter Biden to individuals located in Russia and Ukraine,” the senators said.
Congressional Republicans have begun saying they will investigate further.
