Iran is reportedly still reviewing the latest peace proposal from the United States, a day after President Donald Trump said he'd give the country "a couple of days" to think about it, according to a news report Thursday.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei told Nour News, which is closely linked to Iran's Supreme National Security Council, that Iran has "received the views of the American side and are currently reviewing them," according to CBS News

Trump told reporters at Joint Base Andrews on Wednesday that "If I can save war by waiting a couple of days, if I can save people being killed by waiting a couple of days, I think it's a great thing to do."

He said that the Iranian people that his administration is dealing with in the negotiations "are far more reasonable than the people who are no longer with us."

A major sticking point in the negotiations has been Iran's willingness to stop its nuclear enrichment program and transport its supply of enriched uranium out of the country. Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, Iran's supreme leader, has reportedly directed the country to maintain the supply.
