Putin, Kim Jong Un unite with Xi in China for country's 'Victory Day' military parade
The meeting is noteworthy because Kim rarely leaves North Korea and it marks the first time the trio have been seen in public together.
Russian President Vladimir Putin, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and Chinese President Xi Jinping met in Beijing on Tuesday for China's "Victory Day" military parade, which celebrated Japan's surrender toward the end of World War II.
The meeting comes despite President Donald Trump's recent meetings with Putin and other European leaders in a push to end Russia's war with Ukraine.
This comes a day after the two-day annual Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit, which had leaders from over 20 countries.
Other anti-American leaders were also expected to be in China for one of the country's largest military displays, including Iran's Masoud Pezeshkian. China, Iran, North Korea and Russia have formed a military, economic and political alliance in recent months that has been lauded as an "axis of upheaval," per Axios. Others have labeled it, CRINK.
The meeting is also noteworthy because Kim rarely leaves North Korea and it marks the first time the trio have been seen in public together, NBC News reported.
Trump accused Xi, Putin and Kim of conspiring against the United States in a post on Truth Social on Tuesday night, and questioned whether the large-scale military event would mention the U.S' role in helping China during World War II.
"The big question to be answered is whether or not President Xi of China will mention the massive amount of support and 'blood' that The United States of America gave to China in order to help it to secure its FREEDOM from a very unfriendly foreign invader," Trump wrote.
"Many Americans died in China’s quest for Victory and Glory. I hope that they are rightfully Honored and Remembered for their Bravery and Sacrifice," he continued. "May President Xi and the wonderful people of China have a great and lasting day of celebration. Please give my warmest regards to Vladimir Putin, and Kim Jong Un, as you conspire against The United States of America."
Putin and Xi have met more than 40 times in the past decade.
