Pro-Israel group targets Democrat Rep. Rashida Tlaib in new ad over Israel-Hamas stance
"She's one of only 7 Democrats in Congress to vote against missile protection for Israel," the narrator in the add states.
The Democratic Majority for Israel is running ads highlighting Michigan Democrat Rep. Rashida Tlaib's stance on Israel's war on Hamas, ahead of her 2024 reelection.
"She's one of only 7 Democrats in Congress to vote against missile protection for Israel," says the narrator in the 30-second ad by the AIPAC-aligned super PAC. "One of only nine Democrats against condemning the brutal attack on Israel by Hamas. Her legislation will allow the terrorists to re-arm themselves."
Tlaib is the only Palestinian-American member of Congress and was one of the 18 House co-sponsors of a resolution that called for a truce in the war.
She has also voted against the $14.3 billion in funding for Israel, arguing Americans "do not support the funding of war crimes."
In addition, Tlaib voted against a congressional resolution last week to express support for Israel following Hamas’ Oct. 7 attacks on Israeli citizens.
Tlaib has previously argued that she opposes military aid for Israel without conditions regarding human rights. And she says the resolution "rightly mourns the thousands of Israeli civilians killed and wounded in the horrific attacks," but fails to "mourn the thousands of Palestinian civilians, including over 2,000 children, killed and wounded in the collective punishment of Palestine,” according to the Politico newsletter "Influence."
Tlaib as of Friday had not responded to the ad.
