Rep. Donald Norcross (D - NJ) was released from intensive care at Cooper University Health Care in Camden, NJ on Tuesday after being hospitalized for two weeks due to an emergency medical event.

“Congressman Norcross’ health has continued to improve, and he was transferred out of the Intensive Care Unit on Friday,” said the congressman’s office. “He has been successfully treated for his infection and has completed his course of antibiotics. The Congressman is on his way to making a full recovery.”

The New Jersey representative's office said he will be transferred to Cooper University Health Care in South Jersey to finish recovering once he is medically cleared to fly.

"The Congressman and his family are grateful for the well wishes and prayers he has received," the office said. "Among the many people they'd like to thank are his incredible medical team, including the nurses and staff at Cooper University Health Care."

Norcross experienced a medical emergency and was hospitalized on April 7. The congressman's office said that he had sepsis likely caused by a gallbladder infection.
