Harvard Law School Professor Emeritus Alan Dershowitz said Wednesday that President Donald Trump could get an appeal in his New York criminal case and could win.

"He has the right to appeal," Dershowitz said on the "Just the News, No Noise" TV show. "I think his lawyers... he's hired lawyers, I think from Sullivan and Cromwell. Big firms. Some of them [are] Supreme Court law clerks, and they are, as far as I know, in the process of drafting and filing the appeal. He should win this appeal hands down."

Last year, Trump was convicted in a hush money case in Manhattan, which was largely focused on a 2016 payment Trump's then-attorney, Michael Cohen, made to former adult entertainer Stormy Daniels and for which he sought reimbursement.

"I have never seen a weaker criminal case in my 60 years of practicing criminal law," Dershowitz said. "If I were arguing the case for him, the first thing I would say to the government is, 'Tell us your theory. Explain to us how somebody could be prosecuted for a crime that you had to make up.'"
