The Justice Department in the final days of the previous Biden administration reportedly decided not to file charges against Texas GOP Attorney General Ken Paxton in connection with a federal probe into abuse of power allegations against him.

The investigation centered on allegations that Paxton abused his position of power as attorney general to aid a political donor.

That charges will not be filed, according to a Thursday report by the Associated Press, based on information the wire service said it obtained from two anonymous sources.

Paxton was accused of using his office to help donor-investor Nate Paul work through legal difficulties. He was also accused of accepting bribes in the form of renovations to his home.
