Commerce secretary rips Canada on trade: ‘Worst strategy’

Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick strongly criticized Canada’s trade strategy on Friday, saying “they suck.”

He was responding to a proposal from Canada’s former trade chief that the country might gain leverage by deliberately slowing trade negotiations with the United States amid growing political pressure on President Trump.

“That is the worst strategy I’ve ever heard,” Lutnick said at Semafor’s World Economy Summit on Friday.
