DHS: 45,000 pounds of 'illicit drugs' stopped from reaching U.S. communities under Trump

The Department of Homeland Security announced on Saturday that U.S. authorities interdicted more than 45,000 "pounds of illicit drugs" since President Trump took office.

"Thanks to the @USCG maritime security and interdiction efforts, more than 45,000 pounds of illicit drugs NEVER reached American communities," read a post from the official DHS X account. 

"@POTUS Trump and @Sec_Noem are dismantling drug cartels," the post also read.

According to government statistics, in December 2025 the U.S. government seized 41.4 pounds and 38.5 pounds in January of 2025.

Trump took office on Jan. 20.
