Iranian CEO arrested for allegedly selling electronics to Iran from US in violation of sanctions

An Iranian national and U.S. legal permanent resident was arrested and charged with illegally "exporting electronics used in railway signaling and telecommunications systems from the United States to Iran, in violation the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) and the Iranian Transactions and Sanctions Regulations (ITSR)," according to the Justice Department on Friday.

Bahram Mohammad Ostovari, 66, was arrested on Thursday when he arrived at Los Angeles International Airport.

He was charged with "one count of conspiracy to violate the International Emergency Economic Powers Act and three counts of violating the IEEPA," DOJ said in a news release.

Ostovari, originally from Tehran, Iran, is a resident of Santa Monica. He is the founder and CEO of a Tehran-based engineering company.
