FBI Director Patel says agency working with law enforcement to investigate recent swatting incidents
Patel said that the FBI is working with local media to investigate swatting incidents against media figures.
FBI Director Kash Patel said Friday that the agency is going to work with local law enforcement to address swatting incidents that occurred against media figures.
"I want to address the alarming rise in ‘Swatting’ incidents targeting media figures," he wrote on the social media platform, X. "The FBI is aware of this dangerous trend, and my team and I are already taking action to investigate and hold those responsible accountable."
Some "MAGA" figures such as radio show host Joe Pagliarulo and social media influencer Gunther Eagleman have said they were targets of swatting this week, according to Newsweek.
"This isn’t about politics – weaponizing law enforcement against ANY American is not only morally reprehensible but also endangers lives, including those of our officers," Patel's post continued. "That will not be tolerated. We are fully committed to working with local law enforcement to crack down on these crimes."
He said there would be updates on the situation later.
