Two U.S. border inspectors charged with allegedly accepting bribes

Two U.S. border inspectors in San Diego were charged for allegedly accepting bribes in exchange for allowing individuals to enter the country without proper documentation.

According to local news reports, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers Farlis Almonte and Ricardo Rodriguez were working at immigration inspection booths at the San Ysidro Port of Entry where they allegedly communicated with human traffickers in Mexico. They received cash deposits in their bank accounts during the same time period, reports said.

According to the Los Angeles Times, surveillance footage revealed a vehicle with an undocumented passanger allowed to enter the country, prosecutors said.
