House Committee reports missteps that led to illegal alien coming to Capitol Hill with weapon
"The disastrous immigration policies of the Biden-Harris Administration have had real world consequences for American citizens," the House Judiciary Committee said.
The House Judiciary Committee and its Subcommittee on Immigration Integrity, Security, and Enforcement released a report Wednesday about an illegal immigrant who was caught with a machete outside of the U.S. Capitol last year.
The illegal immigrant has been identified as Jose Leonardo Marquez-Marquez, a Venezuelan national. He was arrested by Capitol Police last year and charged with carrying a dangerous weapon.
According to a press release from the House Judiciary Committee, Marquez-Marquez was apprehended by Border Patrol agents in 2022 at Eagle Pass International Bridge after illegally entering the U.S.
While he listed no point of contact in the U.S., Marquez-Marquez said that Washington, D.C., was his address and was released due to "detention capacity."
The committee also said that Marquez-Marquez was carrying a fraudulent visa and social security card.
The committee's report said that President Joe Biden's immigration policies are to blame for Marquez-Marquez getting into the U.S.
"The disastrous immigration policies of the Biden-Harris Administration have had real world consequences for American citizens," the committee said.
