Venezuela releases imprisoned American veteran Joseph St. Clair

Venezuela on Tuesday released an American veteran who has been imprisoned in the country since November, the veteran's family said in a statement.

Special Envoy Ric Grenell secured St. Clair's release during negotiations with Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, though details on the arrangement were not immediately clear, according to Newsmax.
“This news came suddenly, and we are still processing it — but we are overwhelmed with joy and gratitude,” Scott and Patti St. Clair said.
The family also thanked the Trump administration for securing Joseph St. Clair's release. It is not clear when he will return to U.S. soil.
