Member of Vance's Secret Service detail subject of internal probe into alleged media leaks

A member of Vice President JD Vance's Secret Service detail is under investigation for allegedly leaking sensitive information, the agency confirmed Thursday. 

The administrative investigation could become a criminal inquiry, Anthony Guglielmi, the Secret Service's chief of communications, said, according to CBS News. 

"While we will not comment on the specifics of this matter, one principle is unequivocal: any conduct that potentially threatens the safety of a protectee will not be tolerated," Gugliemi said. 

The allegations, according to Gugliemi, involve compromising operational and information security. Gugliemi didn't provide specific allegations, nor did he name the person under suspicion. 

He also said the agent is the subject of an administrative investigation and a "potential criminal inquiry."

The agent has amid the investigtion been placed on administrative leave, according to CNN.
