President Donald Trump on Wednesday appeared to identify his next target in his nationwide crime crackdown and immigration enforcement operations, suggesting he could send National Guard troops and federal agents to San Francisco.

Trump has engaged in a wide-reaching crime crackdown in multiple major cities over the past few months. He has sent National Guard troops to Washington, D.C., Memphis, Chicago, Portland and Los Angeles.

He previously floated sending troops to New Orleans because of its high violent crime rate, and at the request of Louisiana's Republican Gov. Jeff Landry.

“We have great support in San Francisco," Trump told FBI Director Kash Patel at a joint press briefing. "So I would like to recommend that for inclusion, maybe in your next group."

The president claimed that San Francisco was a "great city" over a decade ago, but that it is now a "mess."

"I'm going to be strongly recommending at the request of government officials, which is always nice, that you start looking at San Francisco," he said. "I think we can make San Francisco — one of our great cities 10 years ago, 15 years ago, and now it's a mess."

Trump has also reportedly floated sending troops to Baltimore or New York if the cities do not do more to combat crime.
