Trump responds to Biden's cancer diagnosis as WH assures public its current medical team is strong

President Donald Trump on Monday slammed former President Joe Biden's staff in a comment to the press, accusing them of hiding their boss's cancer diagnosis. 

Biden's personal office on Sunday revealed the former president was diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer that has spread to his bones, which they claim he only found out about last week.

Trump initially sent a heartfelt message to the former president regarding the diagnosis, but appeared to be more skeptical of how long the diagnosis was under wraps in his first on-camera remarks to the press regarding the news.

The president accused former White House staff of “not telling the facts," according to the New York Post, and highlighted that multiple doctors have claimed for years that Biden's health was okay. 

“I’m surprised the public wasn’t notified a long time ago,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office. “This is dangerous for our country. There are things going on that the public wasn’t informed on.”

The White House earlier Monday reassured the public that the current administration's medical team is top notch, stating the current president trusts his team.

"The White House physician we have here is phenomenal," White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said. "The team of physicians that take care of the president, particularly at Walter Reed Medical Center, are great. The president had his physical recently, as you know, he had, perfect results. He's in very good shape."

Biden's office said the former president is reviewing treatment options with his family, and that the cancer appears to be "hormone-sensitive which allows for effective management."
