Trump awards National Medal of Science to Musk, others

President Donald Trump on Thursday awarded the National Medal of Science to SpaceX founder Elon Musk, Google co-founder Sergey Brin, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang, and AMD CEO Lisa Su.

Brin received the award "for the development of foundational algorithms for information retrieval and data processing that revolutionized how the world access information across science, commerce, and in the course of everyday life."

Huang received the award for advances in the graphics processing unit (GPU). Musk received it for his space company's innovation and projects of "extraordinary ambition." Trump awarded Su with the medal for her role in semiconductor engineering and the development of that field.

Trump also awarded the National Medal of Technology and Innovation to Michael Dell of Dell Computers and Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella.
