Vandals strike WWII Memorial in D.C.

Vandals struck the World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C., on Thursday, filling the fountains with bubble soap and spray-painting the site with political messaging.

Video footage of the area showed the fountains overflowing with foam, while photos showed the spray-painted messages. One line included the phrase "Clean Hands Dirty $". An individual on scene stated that U.S. Park Police had ordered civilians to clear the area.

The incident marks the latest act of vandalism against major monuments in the city, which comes amid President Donald Trump's efforts to beautify the nation's capital and restore existing structures.

Authorities have yet to identify a suspect or confirm a motive.
