CBS places Tony Romo on leave following arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence

CBS Sports placed NFL analyst Tony Romo on leave after his arrest last week on suspicion of driving under the influence, the network announced Friday. 

On July 23, Romo was allegedly passing cars in the space that separates interstate traffic from cars merging onto it from an on-ramp, ESPN reported. 

Romo was pulled over and police say he performed poorly on roadside sobriety tests. He was taken into custody, booked and released. Romo also had an open container of alcohol in his vehicle, according to the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office. 

Romo received three citations, including one for refusing "to take test for intoxication after arrest."

Since 2017, Romo, 46, has been the lead game analyst for CBS' NFL coverage. During his NFL career with the Dallas Cowboys, which ran from 2004 to 2016, he made four Pro Bowl appearances.
