First son Donald Trump Jr. on Wednesday responded to speculation that he could be considering his own presidential bid in the near future, despite helping his father recruit and select Vice President JD Vance last year.

The eldest Trump child did not rule out running for president one day, but clearly stated that he was not considering a 2028 presidential bid or running for president "anytime soon."

The response occurred during an appearance at the Qatar Economic Forum on Wednesday, where he was asked if he would consider running for president in 2028 when President Donald Trump leaves office.

“Here we go – well, oh – oh boy. Well, it’s an honor to be asked,” Trump Jr. said. “The answer is I don’t know. Maybe one day, you know, that calling is there. I’ll always be very active in terms of being a vocal proponent of these things. I think my father has truly changed, you know, the Republican Party, I think it’s the America First Party now, the MAGA party, however you want to look at it.”

Trump Jr. currently helps run the Trump Organization, along with his brother Eric Trump. Eric Trump's wife Lara Trump served as co-chair of the Republican National Committee in 2024.

The comments come as the Republican Party starts looking at who will lead it after Trump departs the Oval Office in four years. Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio are considered early contenders for the nomination, but neither has announced any plans to run so far.
