General Motors' sales in the second quarter dropped 4.2% as the company's bet on all-electric vehicles continues to run up against low consumer interest.

The Detroit automaker's EV sales during the second quarter were down 33% compared to the same quarter last year. Sales in 2025 surged ahead of the Trump administration ending the tax incentives for consumers who purchased a new EV, which was up to $7,500 per vehicle, CNBC reported

The company said that despite a 7.7% decline in its Silverado pickups for the quarter, which includes a nearly 26% drop for its electric truck, the company expects that it will have gained market share in the full-size truck market during the second quarter.

Overall, GM reported that it sold 714,896 vehicles from April to June, a drop from the 746,588 it sold in the same quarter last year.
