Canada to impose $20.7 billion in new tariffs in retaliation to Trump's: report

The U.S. gets the majority of its foreign steel and aluminum from Canada.

Canada will impose $20.7 billion in tariffs to retaliate against President Donald Trump's 25% steel and aluminum tariffs, a Canadian government official said Wednesday.

The move is being reported by  the Associated Press, based on information from an official who asked to remain anonymous due to not being allowed to go into details.

Trump announced Tuesday that he would add additional tariffs on all steel and aluminum coming into the U.S. from Canada.

This will have an impact on the EU, Canada and Australia. 

The U.S. gets the majority of its foreign steel and aluminum from Canada. 

The European Union retaliated by saying it would impose counter tariffs on 26 billion euros ($28.33 billion) worth of U.S. goods that would go into effect in April.
