Italy reports smallest jump in COVID-19 deaths since March 2
The country's death toll of 34,634 ranks well below that of the U.S.
Italy's Civil Protection Agency on Sunday announced just 24 deaths registered during the preceding 24 hour period, the European nation's smallest increase in coronavirus patient deaths since March 2, CNN reported.
The country's death toll of 34,634 currently ranks as the fourth highest number of coronavirus deaths, according to Johns Hopkins University.
The United States leads the world with 119,868 COVID-19 deaths, and is distantly followed by Brazil, the United Kingdom and Italy, according to the data from Johns Hopkins. The death counts in Brazil and the United Kingdom are 49,976 and 42,217 respectively.
Reuters noted that the amount of people in Italy registered as presently carrying the coronavirus declined from 21,212 to 20,972.
