US won't cosponsor renewed UN motion to back Ukraine, condemn Russia: report

The Trump administration will give U.S. support to a renewed United Nations draft resolution condemning Russia for its invasion of Ukraine and supports Kyiv's territorial integrity.

This resolution comes as the three-year anniversary of Russian's invasion of Ukraine approaches. 

"In previous years, the United States has consistently co-sponsored such resolutions in support of a just peace in Ukraine," a source told the Reuters outlet in an exclusive report published Thursday. 

Washington could still change its mind on the matter. It is unclear when the deadline expires to support the draft resolution.

Another source told Reuters that over 50 countries support the resolution, but didn't name them.

President Donald Trump has not given his full support to the U.S. continuing to send billions to Ukraine to defeat Russia and in recent days has said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky started the war and has had three years to end it.
