Arizona GOP Rep. Andy Biggs on Thursday asked FBI Director Kash Patel to open an investigation into allegations that the Democrat online fundraising platform ActBlue was used to "skirt the integrity of federal campaign finance laws."

The letter comes after House Oversight and Accountability Committee Chairman James Comer and House Administration Committee Chairman Bryan Steil asked the Treasury Department on Monday for access to Suspicious Activity Reports regarding ActBlue. The duo claimed the Biden administration failed to comply with their previous requests.

"In 2024, President Biden’s Treasury Department found hundreds of suspicious transactions with ActBlue reported by banks," Biggs wrote in his letter to Patel. "The U.S. House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform and the Committee on House Administration have been investigating these allegations of misconduct. But the previous administration has stalled access to the necessary documents."

Biggs expressed concern that the platform's verification process could potentially allow foreign actors to use straw donations to illegally interfere with U.S. elections, per Fox News. These include people from countries like China, Russia, Venezuela and Iran.

"It must be emphasized that these allegations, were they to prove true, would indicate a serious threat to the integrity of our elections, besides the victimization of American citizens," Biggs wrote to Patel. "The gravity of the allegations and their implications demand a thorough and vigorous investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. We strongly urge an inquiry into ActBlue."

Congress along with numerous state attorneys general began investigating ActBlue last election, citing concerns the massive fundraising online platform had not until recently used security tools like the CVV number on the back of credit cards to ensure donor identities. There have also been other allegations of fraud, and money laundering tied to the platform.

ActBlue claims to have raised $2 billion for Democrats and liberal causes over the last two decades.
