District of Columbia drops lawsuit against Oath Keepers, Proud Boys

The case was dismissed with prejudice, meaning defendants cannot bring it forth again.

The Washington D.C. attorney general’s office has dropped its lawsuit against the Proud Boys and the Oath Keepers regarding the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot.

The case was dropped because the city didn't have the money to continue pursing it, according to The Hill newspaper.

The case was dismissed with prejudice, meaning defendants cannot bring it forth again.

The lawsuit was brought by D.C. Attorney General Karl Racine alleging that members of the right-wing groups the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers broke federal laws when participating in the riot.

The suit was seeking damages from defendants for “restitution and recompense” for people injured in the riot.

Proud Boys leader Enrique Tarrio responded to the news on the social media platform, X.

"Another exoneration? If God is with us … Who can be against us," he wrote.
