Judicial Watch announced Tuesday that it had filed a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit against the Justice Department, regarding its failure to turn over FBI records regarding former first son Hunter Biden's laptop.

The watchdog organization submitted a FOIA request in January, requesting all FBI investigative reports, witness interview summaries, memoranda, and other records related to the investigation of Biden’s laptop, and all electronic communications records related to the laptop, including emails and text messages.

The lawsuit was filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, and is one of numerous FOIA lawsuits seeking transparency in the Hunter Biden investigation.

“The Justice Department’s refusal to release these basic investigative records raises serious questions about transparency and potential interference in one of the most consequential political stories in recent history,” Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton said in a statement. “We will fight in court to get the public the answers it is entitled to under the law.”

The lawsuit comes after the organization filed a FOIA lawsuit against the DOJ in July for all records from senior DOJ leadership regarding former President Joe Biden’s controversial pardon of his son.

They also sued the Justice Department for records and communications regarding the Internal Revenue Service’s investigation of the younger Biden in February.
