FBI Director Kash Patel said Thursday that 45 arrests were made in Washington, D.C., overnight, as the bureau has been assisting city police in combating crime.

"OVERNIGHT IN DC: The FBI and our partners made 45 arrests - 29 immigration-related, 16 tied to the violent crime surge, and 3 firearm seizures," Patel posted on X.

"Charges include: Assault on a federal officer; Possession of child sex abuse material; Illegal firearms; Drug trafficking; Fugitive apprehensions; Subway Sandwich Assault. Your FBI will make DC Safe Again."

In a later post, Patel shared a video of a man who threw a sandwich at a U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer. Court documents show the name of the man arrested as Sean Charles Dunn, whom Patel said has been charged with felony assault of a federal police officer.

President Trump on Monday officially ordered federal law enforcement officers to Washington, D.C., saying that crime in the capital is rampant. He has also taken control of the D.C.'s police department and deployed the National Guard.
