The Pennsylvania National Guard is being deployed to Philadelphia on Tuesday, following Monday night's unrest that resulted in injuries to dozens of police officers.
"At the direction of Governor Wolf, and PEMA, the Pennsylvania National Guard is mobilizing several hundred members in support of the Philadelphia Office of Emergency Management and assist local agencies in protecting life, property and the right to peacefully assemble and protest," Lt. Col. Keith Hickox said in a statement, according to Fox 29.
A 27-year-old man named Walter Wallace Jr. on Monday was fatally shot by police who were responding to a call regarding a person with a weapon, according to Fox News. The news outlet reported that police said that Wallace had a knife that he would not drop.
