1/5 voters would destroy Israel to end Iran war: Poll

Nearly one in every five voters would favor a deal to end the Iran war that would dissolve the state of Israel in favor of a Palestinian nation, if it led to low oil and gas prices, a recent survey has revealed.

Overall, 19% of likely voters in the latest Our Republic/Rasmussen poll said they would accept such an agreement, while 24% of Democrats agreed. Among voters aged 18-24, support for dismantling Israel rose to 46%.

While a clear majority of 74% still hope that America wins the war, a majority blame either Washington or Israel for starting the conflict instead of Iran. 51% of voters blamed Israel or the U.S., with 40% blaming Washington and 10% blaming Israel. A further 39% blamed Iran.

Conducted Sept. 20 among 1,026 likely voters, the survey has a margin of error of +/- 3%.

The war began in late February with joint U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iran that killed Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Despite a nominal ceasefire lasting for several weeks, negotiations to formally end the war broke down and fighting has resumed.
