Kremlin wants more info on ceasefire plan, doesn't commit to pause in fighting
His remarks followed a Tuesday deal between the United States and Ukraine to restore military aid intelligence sharing, while recommitting to a mineral resources deal.
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov on Wednesday told reporters that Russia needed more information on the American-Ukrainian ceasefire proposals and indicated Moscow was in no rush to pause the fighting.
"Look, you are getting a little ahead of yourself, we don't want to do that,” Peskov told reporters, according to RIA Novosti. “Yesterday, when talking to the press, both [Secretary of State Marco] Rubio and [National Security Advisor Mike] Waltz said that they would pass on to us detailed information about the essence of the conversations that took place in Jeddah through various diplomatic channels. First, we need to get that information.”
His remarks followed a Tuesday deal between the United States and Ukraine to restore military aid intelligence sharing, while recommitting to a mineral resources deal. Ukraine committed to a 30-day immediate ceasefire as part of the plan.
"The United States will communicate to Russia that Russian reciprocity is the key to achieving peace," read a joint statement from both parties after the agreement.
