Judge demands Kennedy Center explain why tarp still covers sign where Trump's name was removed
Rep. Joyce Beatty, D-Ohio, accused the Trump administration of trying to obscure the Kennedy Center's "facade in an act of petty defiance."
U.S. District Judge Christopher Cooper has given the Trump administration until next month to explain why a tarp remains over the signage on the front of the Kennedy Center.
Cooper ordered that the administration file a joint status report within a week of a Kennedy Center Board of Trustees meeting scheduled for mid-July, or by July 31 — whichever is earlier. The report will inform the court of the purpose and status of the tarp and scaffolding the Trump administration erected to comply with court orders to remove his name from the facade, The Hill reported.
Rep. Joyce Beatty, D-Ohio, accused the Trump administration of trying to obscure the center's "facade in an act of petty defiance."
"The iconic letters are now obscured by the semi-permanent tarp, which appears to be Appellants’ effort to frustrate the restoration of the status quo as it existed prior to the renaming,” Beatty's lawyers said in the lawsuit.
