An Iranian group claims it has raised over $40 million in reward money for the assassination of President Donald Trump, according to a report from the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI).

"This is a call to jihad, inviting believers to donate their money and sacrifice their lives," the institute said in a statement. "The poster lends religious legitimacy to assassinating Trump."

The Iranian movement behind the assassination money is called the "Blood Covenant" and the website requests that supporters donate to "help establish stable peace."

There is also a verse taken from the Quran that states, "Strive with your wealth and your lives in the cause of Allah."

A Secret Service official told Fox News that they are aware of the threat against the president.

"We operate in a heightened and very dynamic threat environment and the safety and security of the President and all of our protectees remains our highest priority," the official's statement reads.

MEMRI states that in recent days, there have been calls to assassinate Trump, coming from the Iranian regime's religious establishment.

"Iranian regime officials, among them Assembly of Expert members who are close to Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, senior clerics and lecturers at the Howza-e Ilmiyya seminaries, and the regime's Friday preachers, are explicitly calling for Trump's assassination," the institute stated.
