Over 20 Israelis injured in Houthi drone strike in Eliat
The drone strike injured a total of 22 civilians who were at a shopping center in the Israeli port city of Eilat. Two of the people were seriously injured, identified as a 60-year-old man and a 26-year-old.
More than 20 people were injured on Wednesday during an explosive drone strike in Israel that was launched by Yemen's Houthis.
The drone strike injured a total of 22 civilians who were at a shopping center in the Israeli port city of Eilat. Two of the people were seriously injured, identified as a 60-year-old man and a 26-year-old.
A 30-year-old was also moderately wounded but the rest of the injuries were mild, according to the Times of Israel.
The injuries largely came from shrapnel from the explosion. Israeli military officials said the strike did not constitute a new threat, but that Israel's Iron Dome missiles failed to intercept the drone, despite an attempt, and an investigation into that failure is being conducted by the Israeli Air Force.
The explosion comes days after another drone struck a hotel entrance in Eilat on Sept. 18, which caused damage but did not hurt any people.
The Houthis have accepted responsibility for the drone strike, and said another drone was launched at Eliat but likely failed to reach Israel.
