Arizona Republican Rep. Ruben Gallego appears poised to rank up in Congress, with a recent survey showing him ahead of Republican Kari Lake and incumbent Independent Sen. Kyrsten Sinema.

In the hypothetical three-way race, Gallego earned 36% support to Lake's 30% and Sinema's 21% in a Emerson College/The Hill poll.

Sinema first won election as a Democrat, but later left the party and has not stated whether she plans to seek reelection. Should she opt against it, Gallego may face a marginally easier race, as he led Lake 46% to 39%.

Voters in the state prioritized immigration, with 31% indicating it was their top issue. A further 20% pointed to the economy while 11% said housing.

Conducted Feb. 16-19, the survey questioned 1,000 voters and has a credibility interval of +/- 3%.

Arizona is expected to be a battleground race in the 2024 Senate elections. Potentially working to Lake's advantage are general election results in the same poll revealing that former President Donald Trump led Biden 46% to 43% in the presidential contest.
