President Donald Trump on Wednesday celebrated a record high in the stock market, which followed Republicans losing control of both chambers of Congress in the midterms.

"Stock Market just hit another Record High — 91 Days in just a short period of time — Less than two years. Your 401(k)s are through the roof. Record Setting All!" he posted on Truth Social.

It was not immediately clear what record Trump referred to, but major indices were up as of press time. The Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) for instance, was up by more than 1,500 points as of press time.

Notably, the surge came after a Republican electoral defeat and could indicate market optimism over potential policy changes.
