Israel war cabinet member Benny Gantz resigns in blow to Netanyahu
Gantz had been threatening to quit if Netanyahu did not agree to a plan for Gaza after the war.
Benny Gantz resigned from his position on the Israel war cabinet on Sunday in a blow to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
"Leaving the government is a complex and painful decision," Gantz said, according to CNN.
Gantz had been threatening to quit if Netanyahu did not agree to a plan for Gaza after the war by June 8. His resignation comes one day after four hostages held in Gaza were freed in a daring Israeli military rescue.
Gantz's departure is not expected to threaten Netanyahu's majority coalition in the Knesset, Reuters reported.
